NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Top Terror Commanders in Sambisa

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the neutralisation of several high-ranking terrorist commanders during precision airstrikes conducted in the Sambisa Forest area of the North-East.

According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was executed on February 28 under the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai. The targeted mission focused on the Yuwe axis within the Sambisa enclave.

Ejodame explained that the early morning air interdiction followed credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) confirming the presence of structures serving as hideouts for terrorist commanders and storage facilities for logistics.

Strike aircraft reportedly engaged the identified locations with precision-guided munitions, destroying critical infrastructure. Post-strike assessments indicated that several senior operatives and fighters involved in coordinating attacks were neutralised.

The airstrikes are said to have disrupted the terrorists’ command-and-control systems and weakened their logistics network, limiting their operational capacity in the region.

Ejodame added that sustained ISR monitoring is ongoing to track fleeing elements and identify further targets where necessary.

Reacting to the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke,  commended the professionalism of the aircrew and support teams. He reaffirmed the Air Force’s resolve to deny terrorist groups any safe haven across the country.

He emphasised that intelligence-driven air operations, in coordination with ground forces, would continue until all identified insurgent strongholds are dismantled and stability is restored.
