Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, Chief Medical Director, (CMD) Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) on Thursday assured patients admitted into the hospital of unhindered quality healthcare services.
Ajayi gave the assurance while hosting members of Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti Council, who were on a courtesy visit to his office in Ido-Ekiti.
The CMD said that the hospital was established to give quality treatment to its patients.
Ajayi said the initiatives put in place by the management, in conjunction with relevant stakeholders, including Indigent Patients Fund, ward initiatives, hospital infrastructure development and capacity building initiatives, assisted them to deliver on their duties and responsibilities.
“We are committed to quality health care services in FETHI and we have sufficient equipment to cater for our numerous patients.
“I want to assure all our patients and the public that we will continue to improve on service delivery and making sure that we save more lives.
“I want to commend the Federal Government for it’s intervention in providing all the needed equipment for us,” he said.
Ajayi explained that the inability of some patients to pay hospital bills after treatment prompted the indigents initiatives where staff, members of the public and philanthropists pulled resources together to offset medical bills of such patients.
While speaking on ward initiative, the CMD said that eminent personalities visited the hospital and built wards and they maintained them for efficient service delivery.
On infrastructure development, the CMD said people donated equipment, buildings and materials for the hospital use, while the management and staff were trained and retrained for excellent performances in their various fields for capacity building.
He lauded the versatility of the online media platforms and expressed the readiness of the hospital to partner with the chapel.
He advised them not to be biased in the dissemination of their news stories, especially the negative ones, without confirming it’s authenticity.
The CMD urged the chapel to always consider the impact their stories could have on the hospital and it’s personnel in most cases.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Online Media Chapel, Mr Ayodele Abere, said their visit was to look into areas of collaboration with the management on effective coverage of its activities.
Abere described the online media platform as a veritable tool for information dissemination.
“We are here to look into the areas of partnership. The Online platform is fast, compared to electronic and print. You can share your news using various social media platforms and everybody will read the news anywhere in the world,” he said.
Ajayi reeled out numerous achievements of the hospital under his administration.
