The Ogun State Police Command has opened an investigation into the deaths of a retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, following a suspected violent attack at her residence in Kobape, Abeokuta.

The incident occurred at Iyana Agodo Village, raising concerns over insecurity in parts of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta.

He said police received a distress report at the Owode Egba Division after a resident noticed suspicious activity around the property.

Detectives who arrived the scene reportedly discovered signs of forced entry into the building.

According to preliminary findings, the body of the security guard was found at his post, while the retired broadcaster was discovered inside her apartment.

Police also confirmed that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the compound, suggesting possible theft following the incident.

Investigators have since launched efforts to trace the missing vehicle and identify those responsible.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the case.

He also ordered detectives to intensify surveillance and intelligence-led operations aimed at apprehending the suspects.

Police authorities assured residents that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure justice.

The police expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, the OGTV community, and the wider media industry.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and support investigations by providing credible information that may assist security agencies.

Meanwhile, sources indicated that unknown gunmen reportedly stormed the residence of the retired broadcaster, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” before killing her and the security guard.

The late broadcaster was well respected within the Ogun State media space for her years of service at OGTV before retirement.
