The Police Command in Benue State has launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Risku Mohammed, and another victim, Yakubu Isa, by unknown assailants.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Saturday in Makurdi by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu.

According to the police, the victims were attacked while returning from a security meeting along the Okwudu–Ogoli Road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Commissioner of Police described the attack as “senseless and criminal,” noting that it poses a threat to ongoing peace efforts in the state.

Nwadiogbu said the command has deployed both tactical and intelligence units to track down those responsible for the killings.

He assured that the police would ensure the perpetrators are identified, arrested and prosecuted.

“The command will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the culprits are arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

The police commissioner urged residents to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tension in the area.

He also advised members of the public to provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigation.

The Benue Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing continued collaboration with stakeholders to maintain peace and stability across the state.
