PDP says Wike’s performance proves it produces result-oriented leaders

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the performance of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as evidence that the party continues to produce competent and results-driven leaders.

The party said Wike’s achievements in office reflect the strength of PDP’s leadership pipeline and governance capacity.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, made the remarks in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He was responding to comments by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who recently commended Wike’s performance during a project inauguration in the FCT.

Mohammed said the acknowledgement from the APC leader further validates PDP’s reputation for producing effective public administrators.

The PDP spokesperson, however, reaffirmed that Wike remains a loyal member of the opposition party despite serving in an APC-led administration.

He dismissed any speculation of a political defection, insisting that the minister’s role in government does not change his political affiliation.

According to him, PDP has no intention of “releasing” one of its most influential political figures.

Mohammed said Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister has been marked by major infrastructure renewal, urban development projects, and improved public confidence in governance.

He added that these achievements have attracted recognition across party lines, including from opposition leaders.

The party said such performance demonstrates the calibre of leaders within its ranks.

The statement also used the opportunity to project PDP’s readiness for the 2027 general elections, calling on Nigerians to return the party to power at all levels.

Mohammed said the party has a pool of experienced leaders and technocrats capable of delivering similar or better governance outcomes if given the mandate.

He argued that Wike’s performance is an example of what PDP leadership can offer nationally.
