Former Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) wing-back, Felix Owolabi, has expressed sadness at the club’s relegation from the just-concluded Globacom Premier League.
Owolabi said in Lagos that it was worrisome that the club had become a shadow of itself by being relegated to the Nigeria National League.
According to him, the club lacks the right kind of personnel that will manage its affairs effectively.
“The club as far as I know today has been turned into a boys’ club; a mercenary club.
“It is just unfortunate, a disgrace, a woeful performance from 3SC; that’s why I am saying the club has been turned into a boys’ club, `Jankara’ club; it is just unfortunate.
“If Shooting Stars were an institution, I believe that anybody given the responsibility to paddle the canoe of the club should be people with integrity, people who are honest, people who have seen it all; people who are technocrats.
“Unfortunately it was not so with Shooting Stars.“
This is the second time in the last seven years that the team will be relegated to the lower division, having suffered similar fate in 2006.
3SC, also known as “Oluyole Warriors“, finished 20th on the league table with 46 points from 38 matches.
