Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, has re-fixed hearing in the appeals filed against the judgement of the Court of Appeal that declared Governor Olusegun Mimiko as validly elected in the Ondo State governorship election for August 27.
The apex court had earlier fixed September 24 to commence hearing in the appeals filed by the Action Congress of Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party and their governorship candidates, Chief Olusola Oke and Chief Rotimi Akeredolu respectively against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mimiko and his Labour Party.
But following protests from some quarters that the September 24 will be outside the mandatory 60 days to determine the election petition appeals, the CJN adjusted the hearing date to August 27.
