The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazaure, has cautioned corps members against collection of drinks and food from politicians, saying it could be poisonous to achieve their aims.
Kazaure gave the warning on Wednesday when he visited corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Dakingari, in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The DG was represented by Alhaji Habibu Kurawa, a Director in the General Service Department, NYSC headquarters Abuja.
“We are now in the political era, please reject fast foods, drinks given to you to eat during election; it could be poison by politicians to achieve their aims in election process.
“There is no amount of food and drinks from politicians that you cannot afford to buy, please desist from their offer, do not endanger your life because of cheap things.
“I also urge you to please avoid bribery and fraud during the 2019 general elections; anybody caught violating Electoral Act is going to face the full wrath of the law. ”
He noted that the NYSC had assisted in the successful conduct of elections across the country while the election security committee would ensure corps members’ safety.
“INEC will also train corps members on how to discharge their electoral duties during the polls.”
The DG commended Kebbi orientation camp as one of the best in the country, saying the toilets and kitchens were clean.
The State Coordinator, Mr Usman Barde, commended corps members for complying with camp rules and regulations.
