Troops from Operation UDO KA have intensified their operations across the South-East, leading to the arrest of a suspected gunrunner, foiling an ambush, and raiding a criminal hideout in Abia and Imo States.

An operational report shared with oir correspondence on Tuesday revealed that the troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, apprehended the suspect in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect was involved in transporting firearms to criminal elements through a third party from Bayelsa State. Ongoing efforts are being made to recover the weapons and track down additional members of the network.

In another operation, troops were ambushed while investigating a burnt vehicle along the SPDC–Etekuru road in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo. The troops managed to secure the area and recovered two burnt vehicles and two corpses, which were evacuated for further action.

The report also indicated that, in collaboration with local vigilantes, troops raided a suspected cultist hideout in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo. This operation led to the arrest of five suspects. One of the suspects has reportedly agreed to lead the troops to a suspected armoury within the area.

The military’s ongoing efforts aim to dismantle criminal networks and restore security across the South-East region, with these operations highlighting the commitment to curbing violence and criminal activities in the region.
