SuperSport logoThe Super Eagles of Nigeria will rekindle her rivalry with South Africa in Wednesday’s Nelson Mandela Challenge live on your World of Champions.

Back in 2004, the Super Eagles debuted in the annual match played in honour of one of the continent’s greatest man with a depleted team and lost 2 – 1 to the hosts.

It’s the first time both sides will meet since the Eagles emerged Afcon champions in February on South African soil.

Super Eagles supremo, Stephen Keshi intends to use the match to prepare for the World Cup Qualifier against Malawi.

The match will also help South Africa ahead of their Brazil 2014 World Cup against neighbours Botswana next month.

Both teams will have to contend with the withdrawal of several players.

The Super Eagles have had to call up the South African-based duo of Gege Soriola (Free State Stars) and James Okwuosa (Chippa United), as last minute replacements for Emmanuel Emenike and Kenneth Omeruo.

The match-up will also offer forgotten man Obinna Nsofor a return to the Eagles setup while VVV Venlo’s Uche Nwofor is likely to make his debut.

Keshi is expected to parade top stars like John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Godfrey, Oboabona, Sunday Mbah and Ahmed Musa amongst others who were in the victorious Afcon squad.
