Mr Peter Esele, President, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), said on Thursday that Nigeria had moved forward in the last two years of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Esele spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos while assessing the mid-term performance of Jonathan’s four-year Transformation Agenda.
The president on Wednesday, in Abuja, presented the mid-term report of his administration to Nigerians as part of activities to mark the Democracy Day.
Esele said that although Nigeria was still facing insecurity threats and some other challenges, the condition was not as bad as it used to be.
“We may not be where we want to be but definitely, we are not where we used to be,’’ Esele said.
He said that the country had move forward in terms of investment even though it had not got to where it should be.
“The country has moved forward; it may not be exactly good but we are not where we used to be. It will definitely get better,’’ he said.
Esele urged Nigerians not to be pessimistic about the country but work with the government to ensure that they all benefitted from the dividends of democracy.
NAN recalls that Jonathan had said that Nigeria’s economy had attracted a lot of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) with an impressive growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the period under review.
