The Super Eagles of Nigeria will begin their quest for a second appearance at the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda against the Stallions of Burkina Faso.
The draw held at the CAF headquarters on Sunday put Nigeria against Burkina Faso in the first round of the CHAN.
CAF explained that “the draw was done based on the zonal representation of the National Associations affiliated.”
Nigeria is one of the three seeded countries in Zone B of the qualification alongside Ghana and Niger Republic while Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Togo are unseeded.
The first leg between the Super Eagles and their Burkina Faso counterparts will hold in Nigeria on the weekend of October 16, 17 or 18 this year.
The Burkinabes will play hosts to the second leg a week later.
The CHAN is a tournament for players based in their country’s domestic league and 42 teams will take part in the qualification for the 2016 edition that will produce 15 qualifiers.
