NGO donates foodstuff to vocational centre, deaf students in Plateau

The Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center, Jos, has donated foodstuff to School of the Deaf and Vocational Centre for the Blind, Zawan, in Bassa and Jos South Local Government Areas of Plateau.

Mr Ayuba Gufwan, the Executive Director and Founder of the center, presented the items separately on Thursday.

Gufwan said that the gesture is aimed at bringing succor to the students adding that it will enhance teaching and learning.

He explained that the donation was done in collaboration with Dr Ron Rice, its partner in the United States.

Gufwan added that the donation is part of its mandate towards supporting Persons with Disabilities in the society.

He called on influential and kind individuals and groups to support such category of persons, adding that it would enable them to live better.

Rice, who accompanied Gufwan to donate the items, urged managements of the two institutions to put the items to proper use.

He also called on students of the schools to take their studies seriously, adding that their current condition shouldn’t deter them from realizing their dreams in life.

Mrs Ruth Tiptu, the Principal of the vocational center, who received the items thanked Gufwan for the gesture and assured him that the items would be used as expected.

Items donated include bags of sugar, salt, maize, sorghum, beans, rice, millet and garri.

The center also donated walking canes to some students of the vocational center.
