WAFU U-17: NFF responsible for Golden Eaglets’ defeat by Cote d’Ivoire, says Onigbinde

NFF

A former Rivers’ gubernatorial aspirant, Tonye Princewill, has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to translate the success of the Golden Eaglets to the senior national team, the Super Eagles.
Princewill, the candidate of the Labour Party in Rivers State during the last General Elections, said in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that the Eaglets’ feat in Chile was unprecedented.

The Eaglets emerged champions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup after defeating their Malian counterpart, 2-0 in an All African finals at which the National cadet team for the first time won the competition `back to back’.

He said NFF should consolidate on Eaglets’ victory by ensuring that the senior national team achieved similar result.

“I believe every Nigerian is happy with the teams’ victory. We are worried that Nigeria is dominant at the junior level but fail at the senior level.

“The NFF should build on the successes at the junior level. Nigeria was favourite in Chile and rose to the challenge by accomplishing in style.

“Successes like the one achieved by the Eaglets are built on a foundation of hard work. I congratulate the team, their handlers and the NFF for this victory. It is a well-deserved one,’’ he said.
