NFF mourns Patrick Ekong

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has expressed sorrow at news of the death of former member of the NFF Executive Committee, Otuekong Patrick Ekong.
A shocked NFF President Amaju Pinnick said: “He was a gentleman in every sense of the word, and a level-headed administrator. We also must not forget that he represented Nigeria creditably.
The Nigeria Football Federation and the entire Nigeria football family mourn with his young family at this period of grief. We pray that God Almighty will give them the fortitude to bear the loss and also grant our late friend eternal rest.”
Sources disclosed that Ekong, who was a member of the NFF Executive Committee during the tenure of Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi (2006-2010) at the Glass House, died in Uyo on Thursday, May 14, 2015 after a brief illness.
A former junior international player, Ekong was Chairman of the NFF Protocol and Ceremonial Committee during his time on the NFF Board. He was in his early 50s.
