The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially set the fee for its presidential ticket at N60 million as it gears up for the 2027 general elections. The announcement, made public on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, includes details of the party’s electoral timetable and fee structure.
Presidential Aspirants to Pay N60 Million
According to the NDC, the N60 million cost for presidential aspirants is divided into two components: N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.
Fee Breakdown for Other Positions
The NDC also outlined the fee structure for aspirants running for other positions in the party:
* Governorship Aspirants: N10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N20 million for the Nomination Form.
* Senate Aspirants: N3 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N5 million for the Nomination Form.
* House of Representatives Aspirants: N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form.
* State Houses of Assembly Aspirants: N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form.
The party has made provisions for discounts:
* Female Aspirants: 50% reduction in the cost of forms.
* Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): 25% discount across all categories.
Election Timetable for 2027
The NDC has also released a detailed timetable for the upcoming election cycle:
* Sale of Expression of Interest Forms: May 13 to May 18, 2026
* Screening and Interviews: May 19 to May 21, 2026
* Sale of Nomination Forms: May 21 to May 23, 2026
* Submission Deadline for Forms: May 25, 2026
* Appeals Hearing: May 25 to May 26, 2026
* Primary Elections: May 27 and May 28, 2026
* Presidential Primary Election: May 29, 2026, in Abuja
Aspirants for State Houses of Assembly will undergo screening within their respective states. However, national-level aspirants, including those vying for the presidency, will be screened at the NDC National Headquarters in Abuja. Governorship primaries will be held at the local government level. All aspirants must sign undertakings in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct.
In a bid to ensure transparency and internal democracy, the NDC will employ an “open secret ballot” system for its primaries. The party reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and credible electoral process that will produce competent candidates for the 2027 general elections.
