The Minister of Police Affairs, retired Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade, on Wednesday said the Nigeria was overcoming its security challenges through God’s favour.
Olubolade, in a goodwill message to Muslims as they mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration, said that it was only a nation favoured by God like Nigeria that could go through such challenges and come out of it.
He, however, called for more prayers for continued peace.
“The almighty God has been kind to Nigeria, only a country favoured by God could have gone through the kind of security challenges Nigeria has experienced in the immediate past and survived.
“The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, has achieved a lot to restore the nation to its glory, especially as it relates to national security, the panic days are over,’’ he said.
Olubolade commended Nigerians for the relative peace in the North-East states, where the Federal Government declared state of emergency in May, noting that it was achieved through the people’s cooperation.
He said that through continuous training, the police had improved in intelligence gathering and urged the public to cooperate with them and provide information on the activities of suspicious characters in the society.
He urged Muslims to continue to pray for the full restoration of peace in the country.
