Mikel targets Harambee Stars game


mikel_obiDespite ruling himself out of the May international friendly match against Mexico, Super Eagles mercurial midfielder, Mikel Obi, Thursday gave his words to be available for the all important FIFA World Cup qualifiers cracker against the Harambee Stars of Kenya on June 5.

The Eagles have been scheduled to battle against Kenya and Namibia in Nairobi and Windhoek on June 5 and 12 respectively.

Mikel gave top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation the assurance that he would be absent for the exhibition game against Concacaf champions, Mexico, in Houston, the USA on May 31, and confirmed that he would play in the World Cup qualifying matches.

The 2013 African Nations Cup winners have had some heartaches following the series of withdrawals ahead of their busy June schedule that will also see them take part in the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Mikel’s teammate at Chelsea, Victor Moses as well as Kasimpasa attacking midfielder, Kalu Uche and Gabriel Reuben have opted out of the World Cup qualifiers and Confederations Cup.
