Lagos council chairman assures community leaders of more grassroots developments

Mr Yisa Jubril, Executive Chairman, Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has assured the leadership of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in the area of more development for the benefit of the residents.

Jubril gave the assurance on Wednesday during a courtesy visit of the newly inaugurated CDC members to the council secretariat.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, on July 31, ordered new election for the Community Development Association (CDAs) and CDCs, following the expiration of the elected executive members of the association across the state.

Jubril said that the council aligned with the directive of the governor by becoming the first local government in the state to conduct CDC election.

According to him, this ushered in new executive members of the CDC in Iba LCDA to deliberate on new grassroots development.

“We appreciate you for your comportment, for having a free and fair election and ratification among yourselves without any qualms or disputes.

“We also advise you to be up and doing, so as to attain the desired developmental aims and goals for the benefits of our local government and our communities at large.

“We will fulfill our developmental promises, at the same time give full support to the associations by increasing the CDC monthly subvention.

“We will provide materials needed for the associations to perform better within the community, at the same time reinvigorate the CDAs and its affirmation of continuous support for the CDC,” he said.

Dr Damilare Agbogunleri, the CDC Chairman of the local government, in his remarks appreciated the council chairman for his gesture toward the community leadership.

Agbogunleri assured that the new CDC administration would be undaunted on transparency and activate more proactive CDAs in community developmental projects.
