Ladoja to Ajimobi on Ibadan chieftaincy crisis: You are creating confusion because you have failed the electorate

Former governor of Oyo State and Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has described Governor Abiola Ajimobi as a failure.
He said it was because the governor has failed the electorate since he was sworn-in on May 29, 2015 that he is now creating a chieftaincy crisis in Ibadanland as a decoy to hide his inefficiency.
Ajimobi has vowed to instal some chiefs as kings on Sunday in Ibadan. Venue is the popular Mapo Hall.
He also elevated Ladoja as a king but the former governor described the action as a Greek Gift.
He said on Saturday in Ibadan: “What the governor is doing cannot stand. It is a Greek Gift, unsolicited and self-serving, intended to distract the people of the state from the many misdeeds of his administration.
“This elevation to the position of His Royal Majesty and His Royal Highness is the height of illegality and desecration of the stool of Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“What the governor is doing is to create distraction for the people in order to take their minds off the misdeeds of his government. Since the issue of Olubadan came up, is anybody talking about poor education in the state, the closure of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology for two years, bad roads in the state or poor state of health?
“He knows that what he did will not stand because when a case is in court, you don’t take any action. We were in court last week on this matter but he rushed the process. He knows that the court will set his action aside. Why did he distribute letters after close of work on Friday?
“Why is he desperate to bring reform to a chieftaincy system that is not faulty? We are talking of the Olubadan of Ibadan land and not of Oyo State, why then would those who are not from Ibadan determine how Ibadan will run its traditional system? Is it the job of the governor to crown people?
“I am not worried that my colleagues in the Olubadan-in-Council have accepted it. We understand issues differently. Some people have not been able to distinguish personality from office. I have explained to them several times that I am not fighting Ajimobi as an individual. When Adebayo Alao-Akala wanted to give crowns to six baales in Ibadan, the Ibadan elders kicked against it. Why are they silent now? Is it because Ajimobi is from Ibadan that makes them to be silent?
“There are complications created by the action. What they think is that if I give this man a crown, his subjects will vote for me at the election. It does not work that way. Nobody has seen the report they are talking about. Do we know what will come after this? May be it is the sweet part the government is dangling for now.”
Another frontline politician in the state, Mr. Seyi Makinde, also took Ajimobi to the cleaners on the crisis.
He spoke when he visited the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, to greet him on his 89th birthday.
“I stand with the Olubadan and peace-loving people of Ibadanland on the self-inflicted controversy on Ibadan chieftaincy review. You don’t fix what is not broken and whoever attempts to mend the system intends to end it”.
