The Kano State Government has dismissed reports alleging that Governor Abba Yusuf ignored Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II during the Hawan Nasarawa durbar celebration.

In a statement issued in Kano the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, described the claims as false and intended to create unnecessary tension between the state government and the Kano Emirate Council

He clarified that Governor Yusuf had prior communication with the Emir and delegated top government officials, including the Speaker of the State Assembly  to receive him on his behalf.

According to Dawakin-Tofa, the governor was unavoidably absent due to his participation in a strategic Governors’ meeting in Lagos

He emphasised that the governor had earlier joined the Eid prayers led by the Emir reaffirming mutual respect and ongoing cooperation between both parties.

The spokesperson stated that the government maintains a strong and cordial relationship with the Emirate Council, contrary to the claims circulating online.

He further described the report as misleading and deliberately fabricated to misinform the public.

The Kano State Government urged residents to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from credible sources.
