Joe Igbokwe: Lagos NURTW leadership crisis led to disruption of APC rally

1.We thank the Lagos vibrant press for their resilience and  maturity in the face of unwarranted provocation from NURTW members who brought their leadership crisis to the venue of the event. We sympathized with those of them that sustained various injuries in the cause of discharging their lawful duties. As a party, we took absolute responsibility for whatever transpired in SKYPOWER Ground, Ikeja yesterday.
2. We told them that APC is a great party driven by great men and women who seek the progress of the country for the good of the commonwealth, who see politics as a serious business, full of fun, a carnival, a sexy business, a happy event.
3. We apologize for whatever went wrong , the inconveniences, and even the traffic issues around Ikeja in the cause of the event.
4. We engage in a minute silence for the repose of the soul of a committed and loyal party member of our great party  who died in the crossfire. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
5. We give kudos to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for displaying great maturity and professionalism in handling the quagmire. They were really provoked by the factions of NURTW’s conduct that they were tempted to apply maximum force but they restrained themselves. There would have been more casualties if the police had not applied wisdom and resilience. May God bless the Nigeria Police.
6 . We ask for understanding from the general public knowing fully well that no decent person or political party will toy  with the lives of people the are supposed to protect. Lagos APC gives a firm promise that such incidence will not be allowed to manifest itself again in the cause of the campaigns. We have been investigating what went wrong and who did what and soon the public will know the truth. We promise that the offenders will be punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
