Jigawa govt targets 250 for free eye treatment

Jigawa government says it has targeted 250 visually impaired for free eye surgery.
Dr Abdurrahman Maidaura, Director, Tropical Diseases in the state’s Ministry of Health, said this in an interview on Thursday in Dutse.
He said the exercise which commenced on June 10 at  the Gumel General Hospital was being conducted in collaboration with the Middle East Clinic Limited, Turkey.
The director said a Turkish ophthalmologist, Dr Yaseer Gaber strictly supervised the surgical operation, adding that a large number of patients had been treated since the commencement of the exercise.
“The surgery will round up on Friday June 16, 2023, hoping to achieve the target of 250 patients,” he said, adding that the beneficiaries commended the state government and the Turkish team.
Some of the beneficiaries, Abubakar Muhammad and  Maryam Abdullahi lauded the gesture and called for measures to mobilise participation in the exercise.
