Iran Blames U.S. for Latest Israel Fire Exchanges, Warns of Regional Tensions

Iran has blamed the United States for recent overnight exchanges of fire with Israel, warning that the incidents could further complicate an already “chaotic diplomatic process,” according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.

Baghaei said that Tehran’s communications with Washington are currently marked by “extreme suspicion,” reflecting deep mistrust between the two nations. He added that Israeli operations in Lebanon, whether coordinated with the U.S. or not, appear aimed at undermining ongoing diplomatic efforts.

“The United States bears direct responsibility for any action the Zionist regime Israel takes in violating regional peace and security against Iran,” Baghaei asserted, referencing the April 8 ceasefire agreement. He warned that the world should be alert to the risk of a broader regional conflict.

Baghaei also highlighted that Pakistan’s Interior Minister visited Tehran on Sunday to help facilitate indirect communications with Washington.

In addition, he said Iran would respond to any resolutions targeting the country at this week’s meeting of the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors. Baghaei criticized IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi, accusing him of bias and of undermining the agency’s credibility by disregarding the realities of the regional conflict.
