The Ondo State Government on Tuesday released 13 inmates from the Olokuta Medium Security Prison in Akure and other prisons across the state.
A statement issued in Akure by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), said the gesture was to commemorate the 53rd independence anniversary of the country.
The inmates were convicted for various offences and were serving various jail terms.
They are Lucky John, Michael Okeke, Oladipupo Kehinde, Godwin Umeh, Eko Iyang, Annas Garba, Abdullahi Mohammed, Basey Edet, Obodo Chinedu, Toyin Akinbobola, Esan Julius, Ayodele Rufus and Dauda Ologun.
According to the statement, the prisoners were set free based on reports of their good conduct.
Three of the 13 inmates were released on ground of their old age of 62, 73 and 74.
