Gov. Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has called on all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who defected to other parties, to return to the party in the interest of unity and continuity.
Imoke made the call in Calabar on Thursday at the inauguration of the Cross River PDP campaign team for the 2015 general elections.
He said that the PDP family in the state had grown from strength to strength, hence the need to sustain the achievements of the party.
“For those who have left the party, we are asking them to return, especially now that they are needed and the PDP is ever ready to accommodate them.
“It is only when you are in the party that you can gain relevance and the opportunity to serve your people,“ Imoke said.
He advised politicians to learn how to play politics of service rather than attacking individuals during campaigns.
The governor urged members of the campaign team to shun campaigns of calumny and focus on issues that would build a better Nigeria.
