The Minority Whip of the House of Representatives Ali Isa, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crises and leadership concerns within the party.

Isa announced his decision in a resignation letter dated April 14, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Kindiyo Ward in  Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State.

According to the lawmaker, his resignation takes immediate effect following extensive consultations with political stakeholders and supporters.

He explained that his decision was influenced by what he described as the erosion of democratic values within the party.

Isa alleged that the PDP’s structure had been overtaken by forces that no longer align with its founding ideals, resulting in internal divisions and factional leadership struggles.

He noted that after discussions with his family, allies, and constituents, he concluded that remaining in the party would not serve his political objectives or the interests of those he represents.

The lawmaker emphasized that his constituents deserve a political platform that can better address their needs and future aspirations.

Despite his departure, Isa expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the opportunity to serve and for supporting his journey to the National Assembly

Ali Isa currently represents the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency  in the House of Representatives.

His resignation adds to ongoing political realignments within Nigeria’s opposition space ahead of future elections.
