Olubadan Denies Role in Alleged Plot to Remove Governor Makinde

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has dismissed claims linking him to an alleged plan to remove Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing the reports as false and misleading.

The monarch made this clarification in a statement issued in Ibadan through his media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko

Oba Ladoja warned against dragging the traditional institution into political controversies, stressing that the Olubadan stool must remain above partisan matters.

He described the allegation as baseless, noting that traditional rulers have no constitutional authority to influence the removal of elected officials.

According to him, it is legally impossible for a traditional ruler to play any role in the impeachment of a sitting governor.

The royal father explained that even officials at the local government level cannot be removed by traditional institutions, making such claims illogical.

He urged political stakeholders in Oyo State to avoid involving the throne in what he termed “unnecessary political disputes.”

Oba Ladoja reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the dignity and neutrality of the traditional institution.

He also called for respect for constitutional processes and cautioned against spreading misinformation capable of creating tension.

The statement comes amid growing political speculation surrounding the leadership of the state government.
