Gun explodes, kills operator in Enugu

Three shot as hunters resist kidnappers in Osun

The Ogbozinne community of Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State was, on Monday, thrown into mourning when a cannon gun exploded, pierced through the back of the operator, Kenneth Ogbodo, and killed him.
It was learned that one Mrs Ogbodo Blessing from Ogbata Village of Ogbozinne community had hired Ogbodo to fire a cannon gun for the celebration of her shrine.
In the course of igniting the cannon for explosion, the first cannon allegedly exploded and pierced through his back.
Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amarizu, who confirmed the report, said Ogbodo was later confirmed dead and the body deposited at Agbani General Hospital Mortuary.
Amaraiuzu disclosed that investigations into the unfortunate incident had commenced.
