Guinness leads price losers as blue chip equities nosedive at NSE

RMAFC recovers N474m unremitted excise duty from Guinness

Some blue chips on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday recorded price loss leading to further depreciation of the market indices by 0.37 per cent.
Guinness led the price losers’ pack with a loss of N9.75 to close at N174.80 per share.
Dangote Cement came second, dropping N2 to close at N175, while BetaGlass went down by N1.96 to close at N37.32 per share.
Flourmill lost 65k to close lower at N34.55, while Forte Oil declined by 59k to close at N179.29 per share.

Consequently, the All-Share Index lost 124.25 points or 0.37 per cent to close at 33,478.42 against the 33,602.67 recorded on Tuesday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation declined by N43 billion or 0.37 per cent to close at N11.427 trillion from the N11.470 trillion posted on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Nigerian Breweries led the price gainers’ chart with a gain of N1.87 to close at N149.90 per share.

Berger Paint inched up by N1.04 to close at N11.24, while ConOil appreciated by N1.03 to close at N41.98 per share.

StanbicIBTC gained 50k to close at N27.50, while UAC rose by 30k to close at N41.80 per share.

The volume of shares traded closed lower as investors exchanged 204.99 million shares worth N7.40 billion transacted in 3,700 deals.
That this was in contrast to the 240.64 million shares valued at N6.68 billion traded in 3,957 deals on Tuesday.
The banking sector remained the toast of investors with Ecobank Transnational Incorporated accounting for 33.73 million shares worth N756.40 million achieved in 67 deals.

Zenith Bank came second with a turnover of 18.97 million valued at N374.72 million traded in 380 deals, while Access Bank sold 18.72 million shares worth N115.75 million exchanged in 102 deals.

GTBank traded 17.21 million shares valued at N463.99 million traded in 231 deals, while FBN Holdings exchanged 16.49 million shares worth N147.33 million in 67 deals.
