glo_logoFulfilled by the superlative performances by the array of musical talents that featured at the Glo Slide & Bounce musical concert in Benin on Saturday, Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Orobosa Omo-Ojo, described the show as “a world class entertainment.”

Speaking to journalists on his impression about the event, Omo-Ojo said “besides being a world-class event, it is gratifying to know that Globacom is bringing this to our people free of charge.”

Speaking in the same vein, Prince Patrick Oronsaye, a retired curator and authority on Bini Tradition and Custom, expressed delight at being part of the epoch-making event. He said that Globacom had demonstrated its love for the Bini people and by extension, the entire people of Edo State, by always including the city in its entertainment plans.

“By my recollection, this will be about the sixth show that Globacom has brought to Benin City free of charge in the last couple of years. I was part of the last two Rock N Rule shows, the previous editions of the Glo Laffta Fest and now the Glo Slide and Bounce concert. What this shows is that Globacom loves the Binis and the entire people of Edo State, and we can only reciprocate this good gestures by making Glo our number one network,” he said.

The Glo Slide & Bounce musical tour which kicked off in Abuja last week is generating massive interest across the country. A large crowd of fun seekers trooped out in Benin City on Saturday to book a date with the concert train which berthed at the Best Western Hotel in the city.

Conceived by the telecommunication giant, Globacom to showcase its newly endorsed Ambassadors and adequately reward its teeming subscribers across the country, the show parades an admixture of the legends in the nation’s music industry and some of the rave of the moment.

The Benin edition of the show was attended by top government officials and students from higher institutions in Benin City and the adjourning towns of Ekpoma and Okada. The crowd had a fun-filled night as Psquare, Omawumi, Naeto C, Bez and the rest of the crew serenade them with superlative performances. Performing live for the first time the Unlimited song which was inspired by Globacom, and other hit tunes like Alingo, Oyinye and chop my money, Psquare brought down the roof with their class act.

Anchored by the resourceful Okey Bakassi who kept the crowd reeling in laughter with his ribs-cracking jokes, the live performance by the kinetic wiz kid, Jay Kolo, who danced with the talented twins, Psqure during their choreographed rendition of Alingo, held the hall spell-bound and added a special brand of youthful gravitas to the concert.

In his remarks at the concert, Globacom’s Divisional Director for Mid-West Division, Mr. Richard Ogunsina, said that the show was “a thank you package for our subscribers for their loyalty these past 10 years on one hand, and for the youths on the other hand, to show them through these emerging artistes that Globacom is ever ready to support our youths to achieve their dreams and become what they want to be.”

The Glo slide & Bounce Tour moves to Ibadan this Saturday, while Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo and Lagos will have their turn one after the other in subsequent weeks.
