FROT Group seals N2.5m Edo FA Cup deal

FROT Group, an energy and construction company has sealed a sponsorship deal worth N2.5m for the 2016 Edo Football Association Cup.

The deal will see this year’s winners earn N500,000, the biggest ever prize money to be received by champions of the competition.

President of the Lekki-based company, Frank Momoh, says he is excited to be part of the revival of the state’s football by the Edo Football Association.

“Growing up, football in Edo was the main thing; the state was bubbling with football activities but along the line, things started going the wrong way. Today, we have seen the efforts being put in by the Frank Ilaboya-led board, and I think it is important we encourage them through sponsorship. We’re happy to be part of this revival plan and we hope our support will go a long way in bringing back the glamour of football in the state.”

According to the Chairman, Edo State FA, Frank Ilaboya, the sponsorship deal with FROT Group will add glamour to this year’s competition.

“Last year, everybody commended us for our efforts; this year, we will definitely do more especially with the coming on board of FROT Group as our sponsors. This year’s prize money is the biggest in the history of the tournament in the state, and this will definitely spur the clubs and the players to put in their best. We’re very grateful to FROT Group for this wonderful support,’’ Ilaboya stated.

Over 25 clubs have registered for this year’s tournament, which begins on March 19, 2016.

Last year, Edo State representatives in the Federation Cup BJ Foundation and Kukuruku Dragons were the giant-killers in the competition, as they defeated the big sides to reached the Rounds of 16 and 32 respectively.
