While preparing for next weekend’s first leg 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia, Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, has been asked to recall team captain, Yobo Joseph into the squad.
Former board member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Elder Dickson Adejube. who made this appeal to the ex Eagles captain, urged him to go out behind him any difference between him and the Fernabahce of Turkey defender.
”I want to join other Nigerians who have been calling for Yobo’s return by appealing to Keshi to please give him another chance. If it is only to allow him reach the one hundred caps mark in Nigeria’s colour.
”I want the coach to forget whatever might have happened that necessitated the players’ exclusion from the team after the 2012 Nations Cup which Nigeria won in February”.
Adejube, a retired FIFA badged referee said Keshi should see himself as the boss and should, therefore pardon Yobo and recall him even if it means featuring for some minutes to enable him hit the one hundred cap mark as a national team player..
On the two legged decisive tie against Ethiopia, Adejube expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will triumph but warned Keshi and his boy not to underrate the Ethipians who he described as a good team.
”I want Keshi and the boys to take the Ethiopians seriously both in Addis Ababa and here in Nigeria. They are a very strong team and could be dangerous if given the chance.”
