Team Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Ajibade Babalade, whose team is very close to being relegated from the elite class of the Nigerian league after recording another home draw against the table topper, Enyimba International of Aba in a week 35 game of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match played on Wednesday at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, escaped mob action after he incurred the wrath of the fans.

The former Super Eagles defender miraculously escaped a mob action as he took to his heels before the match ended after throwing missile back at angry spectators who vented their anger on the coaching crew of the home team after conceded a goal against Enyimba.

Andrew Abalogu opened scoring for Enyimba in the 55th minutes into the exciting match while Francis Edem levelled scores for the home team through a penalty kick in the 82nd.

Fans after the match chanted war songs looking at every corner of the stadium to vent their anger on Babalade for daring to retaliate the fans’ attack on the technical bench while the match was on.

It took the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Mokola Police Station, Akin Oridoye, who brought police reinforcement to the arena before the irate mob could be dispersed.
