Former Super Falcons chief coach, Joseph Ladipo, popularly called Jossy Lad died Thursday morning after a long battle with a strange ailment that turned the once chubby coach to a shadow of himself.
The coach who returned to the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan last week after he was earlier discharged had his last breath in his home at the Kuola area of Apata in Ibadan.
The deceased was discharged from the University College Hospital (UCH) last Friday after having been admitted twice at the hospital.
Lad’s health had improved in March this year when the Chief Medical Director of the UCH, Professor Temitope Alonge certified that the ex-Leventis United coach could return home.
But in late April, Lad’s health suffered a relapse which prompted his return to the hospital.
Wale Ladipo said his family had plans to fly their father abroad after he suffered a setback in his health condition before he died.
One of Jossy Lad’s players during his era as coach of the Super Falcons, Cynthia Uwak described him as “a great coach.”
Uwak said via her Twitter account: “He was a great coach, the best ever I worked with. I feel it deep but God giveth and He taketh, Adieu coach Jossy.”
A teammate of Lad at 3SC, Niyi Akande was sad and short of word to express the loss of Lad.
“I have lost a great teammate, colleague and a good friend, I feel so sad and short of words,” Akande said.
Jossy Lad was 72 at the time he passed on.
