A U.S. court has set bail at 4 million dollars for former Honduran President Rafael Callejas, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering and wire fraud in the FIFA corruption scandal.
Callejas was the President of Honduras from 1990 to 1994 and President of the Honduran Football Association until August.
Judge Robert Levy, on Friday set bail and then ordered the New York City court to accept cheques totaling 810,000 dollars as bond for Callejas.
The charges against Callejas are in connection with the sale of marketing and television rights for football tournaments and matches in Latin America.
Callejas, along with suspended FIFA Vice- President Juan Angel Napout and Alfredo Hawit, President of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), are among the 16 latest men indicted by U.S. authorities.
They were accused of allegedly accepting bribes in the marketing of international tournaments.
