Proprietress of Bluestone International Football Club of Ikorodu, Lagos, Terriecia Taiwo, on Tuesday urged the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) to use football academies as a benchmark for identifying talents.

Taiwo said at a two-day football clinic organised by the club at the National Stadium, Lagos, that the NFA should collaborate with football academies in the country.

He said this would enhance the quality of the sport.

The FIFA certified agent said: “There are talented young players in football academies in this country. The NFA should take advantage of these academies to discover more talents and also promote the sport.

“Academies have always served as developmental programmes for young aspiring players all over the world”.

Taiwo noted that the proper development of the various academies in the country would help to curb age cheating.

She noted that it would also discourage the recycling of players, since the academies would have developed enough talented players for participation in the various age grade competitions.

No fewer than 50 male and female players participated in the clinic aimed at nurturing talents.
