The Federal Government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr across Nigeria.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.

The minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to uphold the values of compassion, peace, generosity, and sacrifice learned during the period.

He called on Nigerians to use the festive occasion to pray for the country’s unity, stability, and continued development.

Tunji-Ojo also advised citizens to celebrate in moderation and remember the less privileged by extending acts of kindness during the holidays.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.
