enugu_cityThe coal mining city of Enugu has embraced the Corporate Social Initiative of SuperSport, Let’s Play.

The office of Hon. Princess Stella Ngwu (member representing Igbo Etiti/ Uzo Uwani Federal Constituency) and Enugu Ministry of Youth and Sports in conjunction with Let’s Play hosted over 700 kids from 32 schools.

The children were drawn from JSS1 class of the schools from across the state. The event took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the centre of Enugu metropolis.

25 coaches, drawn from the state Sports Council taught the kids basic football skills like trapping the ball, heading the ball and passing the ball. At the end of the skills session, footballs were handed to all participating kids.

Let’s Play Initiative is SuperSport’s way of getting the kids to start playing again, thereby keeping them healthy both physically and mentally.

Former African Footballer of The Year Victor Ikpeba, who is the Let’s Play Ambassador, said that “the Let’s Play initiative encourages kids to be more physically active thereby promoting mental alertness.”
