The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, has lauded Gov. Peter Mbah for the procurement of modern technical crime-fighting equipment through the Enugu State Security Trust Fund.
Giwa made the commendation on Tuesday in Enugu in a statement issued on his behalf by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
The commissioner noted that the equipment, unveiled in Enugu on Monday, reflected the administration’s consistent commitment to strengthening internal security, boosting operational efficiency, and ensuring a safer environment for all.
According to him, the latest intervention is both a critical support and a true game-changer.
He noted that the deployment of the equipment would significantly enhance intelligence-led policing, improve crime prevention efforts, and strengthen swift operational response across the state.
He emphasised that the modern equipment, which included – long-ranged surveillance drones, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, and operational vehicles and motorcycles – would aid crime detection, tracking, aerial monitoring, improved operatives’ protection and coordinated field operations.
The commissioner reaffirmed the resolve of the police and other security agencies to put the newly acquired assets to optimal and judicious use, while ensuring improved security outcomes across the state.
“As a Command, we commend Gov. Mbah for his unwavering investment in security and his recognition that security and safety remain the foundation of sustainable development,” he said.
Giwa urged residents to remain supportive, vigilant and cooperative by promptly reporting suspicious persons and their activities.
He called on residents to share credible and actionable security information that would assist the police in maintaining peace and security across the state this festive season and beyond.
