Emir of Ilorin Mourns Obajisun of Ayedun, Describes Death as Great Loss

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Oba Olusegun Rotimi, the Obajisun of Ayedun in Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Sulu-Gambari conveyed his condolences in a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin by his spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona.

The Emir described the late traditional ruler as a respected monarch, cultural custodian and bridge-builder who served his people with dignity.

According to him, Oba Rotimi devoted his reign to peace, unity and the development of Ayedun community and Kwara State at large.

Sulu-Gambari said the death of the Obajisun was a painful loss not only to Ayedun but also to the Kwara traditional institution.

He said the late royal father played an important role in preserving the customs, values and heritage of the Ayedun people.

The Emir, who is also Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, extended condolences to the people of Ayedun on behalf of the council.

He also commiserated with the immediate family of the late monarch, the extended royal family, the government and people of Kwara State.

Sulu-Gambari said Oba Rotimi would be remembered for his commitment to community growth, peaceful leadership and service to the traditional institution.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the late Obajisun eternal rest.

The Emir also prayed for strength and comfort for the people of Ayedun, the royal family and all those affected by the monarch’s passing.

Oba Olusegun Rotimi’s death has drawn sympathy from traditional leaders and residents who described him as a royal father committed to peace, culture and grassroots development.
