Ekiti SURE-P beneficiaries get N60m April, May allowances

Less than three weeks after they received their first monthly allowance through e-payment, another N60 million has been paid to the 3,000 beneficiaries of the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme in Ekiti State as their April and May allowances.

In a release issued Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman and Coordinator of the State Implementation Committee, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyemi, advised the beneficiaries to check their banks for confirmation of the payment, saying; “Anyone whose account is not credited by the close of work today should let any of the SURE-P officials know.”

Each of the 3,000 beneficiaries of the SURE-P Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme is paid N10,000 per month for carrying out the community services like vigilante, clearing of drainages, sewage disposal, filling of pot-holes on township roads, cleaning of markets, palaces, schools and other public places.

The Federal Government’s share of the subsidy fund is being used for the SURE-P empowerment programmes like the Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme, Graduate Internship Scheme, among others.

“I’m happy to announce that another N60 million has been injected into the economy of Ekiti State through the SURE-P and by now, our people must have started receiving what is now known as the ‘Goodluck Alert’ for their April and May allowances.

“By now, those who said the programme was not real must have started eating their words, and I can assure that, very soon, we will add another 2,000 to the 3,000 beneficiaries that we already have.

“Like I have said before, N10,000 per month might appear too insignificant but those who had experienced being at zero financial level before and were elevated to a level at which they can feed will appreciate this kind gesture from President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Also, one can imagine the impact of N60 million that just entered the economy of Ekiti State through the two months allowance of the SURE-P beneficiaries.

“We in Ekiti State are therefore grateful to Mr. President for this kind gesture,” Akinyemi said.

He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the good gesture of the President Jonathan-led Federal Government by being diligent at their duties.
