A Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Wednesday ordered that the Department of State Services (DSS) be served through the media.
The judge, Justice Obayomi Taiwo, made the order in his ruling in an exparte application by Obafemi Adewale, counsel to Afolabi Akanni, a lawmaker, under the custody of DSS.
“Order is hereby made granting the applicant the leave to serve the respondent through other means, that is, Punch and Tribune news papers, both which are national dailies.
“The order also included compliance with all orders of this honourable court,’’ Taiwo held.
Adewale in Motion Exparte brought under Order 26 Rule 8(1) and 6 Rule 5(d) of the Federal High Court Procedure Rule, 2009, asked for leave to serve the respondents through the media.
He said the DSS failed to obey the court order to accept the originating processes.
He attached two exhibits, that is, the enrolment order of court to produce Akanni before the court on Wednesday.
The counsel also attached an affidavit by bailiff, claiming that the respondent refused to accept the originating processes from the bailiff of the court.
The court had on March 11 ordered that Akanni be produced before it on Wednesday, March 16.

The court adjourned the case till April 24 for report of service and compliance with court order.
