Edo Governor Okpebholo Calls for End to Insecurity, Supports Tinubu Administration

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has warned individuals and groups allegedly promoting insecurity to desist, urging them to allow the presidency under President Bola Tinubu to focus on governance.

Okpebholo made the statement during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for Local Government Council elections in the Edo South Senatorial District. He claimed that recent spikes in insecurity were orchestrated to undermine Tinubu’s administration.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. Promoting insecurity will not win you seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, or presidency. Let peace prevail so governance can thrive,” Okpebholo said. He described kidnappings and other violent acts as tactics by opposition forces who have “failed to deliver.”

The governor praised Tinubu’s achievements, noting that the removal of the fuel subsidy has funded numerous development projects across Edo State. He also congratulated APC candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries, saying their victories would help deliver the 2.5 million votes pledged to Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe called the party the “only viable political platform in Edo” and encouraged candidates to highlight the governor’s developmental programs within their local government areas.

The event also featured the official unveiling of Edo South APC candidates, including Ogbeide Ihama for the Senate, Dr. Paddy Iyamu for Oredo Federal Constituency, and Omorede Igbinedion for Ovia Federal Constituency.
