super_eaglesFormer board member of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Elder Dickson Adejube, has described the qualification of Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles for the African Nations Cup Championship (CHAN) as another plus for coach Stephen Keshi and victory for the Nigerian league.

Speaking moments after the Eagles survived the onslaught of the Elephants of Cote d ‘ivoire to earn a place in the championship billed for South Africa next year, elder Adejube said he was happy that Nigeria was able to break the jinx that has denied the country participation in the previous edition of the championship.

He, however, said he was particularly happy for coach Keshi, who he said, has through the feat, made a statement for himself, having led Nigeria to win the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

”I am very happy for coach Stephen Keshi for leading the Eagles to qualify for the championship for the first time, it is another feather to his cap and I must congratulate the players as well as all Nigerians for the victory which I will describe as victory for the local league’.

”Although Nigeria lost 2-0, that notwithstanding, the team deserved commendation for scaling the Ivorian hurdles, because Ivorians are not an easy foe, especially when playing against them in Abidjan,” remarked the retired FIFA badge referee.
