Dogara to politicians: It’s too early to start 2019 campaign

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday, urged politicians to avoid early campaign for 2019 general elections.
Rather, he advised that they should cooperate with the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to move the country forward.
Dogara gave the advice when the Presidential Primaries Convention Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) visited him in Abuja.
“We have to rally round with all the tools we can get, to make this government a success. We cannot fail our people and that is why I fault those who are already having their eyes on 2019,’’ Dogara said.
He stressed that the preoccupation of the lawmakers and the party members should be the well being of the country.
The Speaker reiterated his commitment to collaborate with Buhari to ensure the implementation of programmes that would affect the lives of Nigerians positively.
Earlier, the leader of the committee, Dr Alex Ideh, urged the speaker to carry every member of the House along in the business of the lower chamber.
“Please reach out to Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila and the party in the true spirit of humility and sportsmanship’’, Ideh advised.
He said a strong cooperation between the National Assembly and the Presidency would speed up development in the country.
