Djokovic relieved to get past Isner

Novak Djokovic was pleased to get past a tricky opponent after beating U.S. star, John Isner, in straight sets at the BNP Paribas Open.
The world number one has struggled to deal with the giant American’s booming serve in the past but he managed to secure a 6-4 7-6 (7/5) victory at Indian Wells to book a last-eight showdown with Bernard Tomic.
The Serbia ace has looked in decent nick in the Californian desert to date but was pushed hard by Isner and he admitted afterwards that it is always a relief to beat the Davis Cup star.
“John has one of the best serves in the game,” he said. “It was difficult to hang in there mentally. He had chances in the second set but I managed to get through in straight sets.
“With his size and his serve he can beat anyone so I am very pleased with the victory which for me is very big.”
Next up for Djokovic is controversial Australian star Tomic, who beat compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4 4-6 6-4.
