N7bn CAN bribe: DSS promised to link me with Oritsejafor, John Kennedy ‘for settlement’, reveals Borno cleric

Pastor Kallamu Musa-Dikwa, the cleric at the centre of the alleged N7 billion bribe given to leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election, revealed on Thursday how operatives of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) promised to link him with CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, and Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims’ Welfare Commission, Mr. John-Kennedy, ‘for settlement’.
Musa-Dikwa had alleged that N3 million was given to each of the state officials of CAN.
In the heat of the allegation, some presidency officials accused him of working for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.
The Borno State cleric was subsequently invited by the DSS to Abuja.
Speaking on Thursday in Kaduna, he insisted that CAN collected the amount and while he was being interrogated in Abuja, the DSS forced him to sign a document “which they want to use against me to show the entire world that the President (Jonathan) did not bribe CAN to work against the presidential candidate of the APC.”
“They want to use the document, which I signed under duress, in some national newspaper to portray me as telling lies against the body of Christ. They forced me to sign and promised to link me up with the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, and John Kennedy, for us to settle.
“They also used other christian leaders, especially the Abuja CAN Chairman, to plead with me to tell the whole world that CAN leaders never collected any money from the presidency
“In Abuja, the DSS treated me like a common criminal. Since I broke the news to Nigerians on how the Christian body collected N7 billion to work against the APC presidential candidate from President Goodluck Jonathan, my life has been under threat.
On his invitation by the DSS, he said: “The DSS invited me to their office in Abuja. They wanted to know who gave me information that CAN collected N7 billion from Jonathan and I told them.
“They said all those I mentioned will be invited and told them to go ahead and invite them. I even told them how the money was distributed. They also said they wanted to know whether the opposition All Progressives Party (APC) is the one sponsoring me to tarnish the image of CAN and mentioned Sam Nda Isaiah (Publisher of the Leadership newspapers). I told them my relationship with him (Sam) is not political because since 2006, I have been with him. I told them he (Sam) does not know anything about my revelation on the said money.
“They also asked what was my connection with the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and I told them there is nothing that connects us. I told them whatever I said was done for the love of my country.
“After sometime, they went and drafted a letter which says ‘I Pastor Musa…’the information I gave that president gave CAN money was false and that I won’t do that again.
“They said I should copy what they wrote in my own hand-writing. I had to do it because I was alone with them and I felt they could harm me and frame me up. They forced me to sign after writing what they drafted. I wanted to refuse but I was afraid for my life.
“They (DSS) promised to link me up with the CAN President so that we can sit down and discuss. And this was the same promise the Abuja CAN Chairman gave me that if I go back to the press (journalists) and denounce that CAN didn’t receive any money from the president, they will take me to John Kennedy (Chairman, Christian Pilgrim) for settlement”.
