Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has called on non-indigenes residing in the state to cast their votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the December 5 governorship election.
He made the call on Wednesday in Port Harcourt at a programme organised by non indigenes, from the South-South, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa communities to endorse him for second term.

He said: “You must go out on Election Day to cast your votes at your respective units and wait for the votes to be counted and results declared.

“This election is about PVCs, it is power to the people and as such, you should not believe anybody who may be going about threatening to use power or force to intimidate you.

“I urge you to regard Bayelsa as your home, avoid any form of discrimination; I always tell you people not to call yourselves non indigenes; I want you to know that we are one.

“For me, you are all indigenes; anybody living here, going about their businesses with their family like Bayelsa people should be regarded as an indigene.

“I acknowledge the support you have given me, as the election is fast approaching, be focused and do not to be intimidated by the antics of the opposition party.’’

Mr Ferdinand Ozins, who spoke on behalf the non indigenes, said they came together to endorse Dickson because of his government of inclusiveness.

Ozins, who expressed satisfaction with the peace prevailing in the state, said that non indigenes were fully behind Dickson for second term.

“Dickson has done well in the area of security, which has enabled us to live and work in peace in the state.

`We are here, today to assure the governor that non indigenes will vote enmasse for him come December 5,” he said.
