The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State said on Friday that the recent defection of Senator Joshua Dariye to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was criminal.
State PDP Chairman, Chief Damishi Sango, stated this while addressing newsmen on Friday in Jos.
Dariye, in a letter to the Senate read by Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, at plenary two weeks ago, announced his defection to the APC.
Sango said that the movement of Dariye from PDP to APC was unconstitutional.

“It is criminal to carry the mandate of a party to another party.

“So, Dariye’s defection from PDP to APC is not only criminal, but unconstitutional.

“Dariye rode on PDP’s back to become a senator, but he worked for the APC during the last general elections.

“All this while, we knew he is PDP in the day time, but APC at night; so, we were not surprised when he defected,” he said.

Sango said that PDP would take legal actions if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not declare Dariye’s seat vacant.
